UNISSULA Faculty of Law Community Service Students Encourage Jangli Residents to Become a "Digitally Smart Society" Semarang — Students of the Community Service Program (KKN) of the Faculty of Law, Sultan Agung Islamic University (UNISSULA), held a Legal Awareness Outreach and Social Service program under the theme "A Digitally Smart Society: Legal Protection from Illegal Online Loans, Digital Fraud, and Personal Data Misuse" in Jangli Village, Tembalang District, Semarang City, on Saturday, 29 August 2026. Held at the Jangli Village Hall, the event was opened by the Village Head, Mrs. Amelia Kusumaningtyas, represented by the Village Secretary, Mrs. Laksmintari Dewi Paramita. The legal awareness session was delivered by Mr. Rizki Adi Pinandito, S.H., M.H. and Dr. Mega Arum Saputri, S.H., M.Kn. The program was attended by dozens of residents, village officials, community leaders, and all participants of the UNISSULA Faculty of Law KKN team. The event ran from morning until midday in a warm and interactive atmosphere. Responding to Public Concerns in the Digital Space The program was prompted by the rising number of cases involving illegal online loans, digital fraud, and personal data breaches targeting the general public. The methods used by perpetrators have become increasingly varied, ranging from offers of instant loans with no requirements, fake prize draws, and phishing links, to the distribution of malicious applications through text messages and social media. In their presentations, the speakers explained that the public needs to understand three fundamental things: how to distinguish licensed online lending providers from illegal ones, the hallmarks of digital fraud schemes, and the rights of personal data owners. Residents were reminded to always verify the legality of financing companies through the official channels of the Financial Services Authority (OJK), to be careful about granting applications access to their contacts and photo galleries, and never to share OTP codes with anyone. Legal protection formed an important part of the material. Participants received explanations of Law Number 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection, the criminal provisions on fraud under the Indonesian Criminal Code, and the Electronic Information and Transactions Law. Residents were also given practical steps to take if they become victims, from documenting evidence and reporting to the police, to filing complaints with the Task Force for the Eradication of Illegal Financial Activities (Satgas PASTI) and OJK's complaint channels. The question-and-answer session drew lively participation. Several residents shared their experiences of receiving suspicious loan offer messages and phone calls made in the name of official institutions. Every question was answered directly by the speakers in simple, easy-to-understand language. Social Service as an Expression of Care The program continued with a social service segment, in which staple food packages were symbolically handed over to representatives of Jangli residents. The handover was carried out by representatives of the UNISSULA Faculty of Law together with the KKN students and received by village officials. The social service activity served as an expression of care and a way to strengthen ties between the UNISSULA academic community and local residents, in line with the spirit of Kampus Bismillah Membangun Generasi Khaira Ummah. Looking Ahead Jangli Village officials welcomed the program and expressed hope that similar educational activities would continue, given that digital and legal literacy among the public still needs to be improved. The KKN students, for their part, hope that the material presented will be passed on by residents to their families and neighbours, so that a society emerges that is not only technologically literate but also legally aware. The event closed with a group photo session involving all participants, village officials, the field supervising lecturer, and the KKN students of the UNISSULA Faculty of Law.
