General Lecture for the 2026 Intake of New Students, Faculty of Law, UNISSULA, Features a Professor from the Faculty of Law of Universitas Borobudur, the Chairman of the Judicial Commission, and a Supreme Court Justice

SEMARANG — The Faculty of Law of Universitas Islam Sultan Agung (UNISSULA) held a General Lecture for its new students on 12 September 2026 CE, corresponding to 1 Rabi'ul Akhir 1448 AH, at the Faculty of Law, UNISSULA. The lecture carried the theme "Institutional Synergy between the Supreme Court and the Judicial Commission Towards an Accountable Judiciary," with the sub-theme "Living Norms (LN): The Convergence of Living Law (LW) in Building a Just Legal System." The event opened with remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Law, UNISSULA, Prof. Dr. H. Jawade Hafidz, S.H., M.H. Three speakers then delivered their material. Prof. Dr. Ade Saptomo, S.H., M.Si., Professor at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Borobudur Jakarta, and Chairman of PPRAGALINDO, examined the concept of living norms and its convergence with living law as a foundation for building a just legal system — an approach that treats the norms living within society as an important source for the formation and enforcement of law. The Chairman of the Judicial Commission of the Republic of Indonesia, K.P.A. Dr. H. Abdul Chair Ramadhan, S.H., M.H., presented the role of the Judicial Commission in upholding and safeguarding the honour, dignity, and conduct of judges as part of the effort to realise an accountable judiciary. Meanwhile, Justice of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Yeheskiel Minggus Tiranda, S.H., M.H., offered a perspective from within the judicial power on how institutional synergy between the Supreme Court and the Judicial Commission can strengthen the integrity and accountability of judicial proceedings in Indonesia. For the new students of the Faculty of Law, UNISSULA, the lecture served as an initial introduction to the architecture of judicial power in Indonesia, while instilling an awareness that the just enforcement of law demands institutional integrity and sensitivity to the values living within society. The holding of the General Lecture for New Students of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Islam Sultan Agung (UNISSULA), for the 2026 academic year stands as a concrete form of collaboration between a university and state institutions in the field of judicial power.
